Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha
We arrive in Tanzania's capital and today is a day to start getting used to the climate and the city. We will have a transfer to the hotel, according to the time of the suggested flight, and then a free day to explore the city of Arusha if you wish.
Day 2
Arusha - Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at the hotel in Arusha, the excursion departs at 7.30am. The first stop is Arusha Shoppers for last-minute shopping before we set off on safari. Then we head to Tarangire National Park for a safari and a picnic in the park. Tarangire is known for its huge elephant population and baobab trees. It forms the center of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebras. Dinner and overnight at Bougainvillea Safari Lodge
Day 3
Tarangire - Ngorongoro Crater - Serengeti
After an early breakfast, you will drive to Ngorongoro and descend more than 600 metres into the crater to observe the wildlife. Supported by a year-round supply of water and fodder, the Ngorongoro conservation area supports a wide variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, eland, warthogs, hippos and giant African elephants. Another major attraction of this picturesque national park is its dense predator population, which includes lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We'll visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the south-west corner, which is one of the crater's main features. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can be seen here. Next, a visit to the northern part of the park area, known as the Kogatende area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park in July and August, where the Mara River is located. Arrival in time for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Serengeti National Park central to North
After breakfast, set off for a deep drive into the northern Serengeti, crossing the Mara River, chasing the migration and crossing the river - the Serengeti National Park - with its endless plains stretching into the distance as far as the eye can see. Next, a visit to the northern part, known as the Kogatende area, one of the park's most wildlife-rich habitats, with the Mara River providing a valuable source of water for this area and therefore attracting wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti's species. Arrival in time for lunch and an evening tour of the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight at the Serengeti Heritage Lodge Kogatende
Day 5
Serengeti National Park North- Central
We wake up for breakfast and set off for a morning safari. This will be a half-day safari in the north of the Serengeti, following the wildebeest migration to the centre of the Serengeti for dinner and overnight at the Serengeti Heritage Lodge in the centre of the Serengeti.
Day 6
Central Serengeti National Park - Arusha
On this day, we set off from the Serengeti National Park to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay. We visit the world-famous archaeological site of Olduvai Gorge, known as the Cradle of Humankind. The first traces of homo sapiens were discovered here by Mary Leaky and anyone interested in humanity's ancestors will be fascinated by this extraordinary site. Explore the picturesque little museum and marvel at the rugged landscape. This palaeoanthropological site, located on the eastern Serengeti plain, is a steep-sided ravine made up of two branches with a combined length of around 48 km and a depth of 90 metres. The deposits exposed on the sides of the canyon roof have given rise to a treasure trove of fossil remains.
Day 7
Arusha - Return
On this day, after breakfast, we head to the airport to catch our return flight, whether it's in the morning, afternoon or evening.
Frequent Questions
What kind of accommodation am I staying in on this trip?
Accommodation on this trip is standard and we will sleep in hotels and lodges. We use twin or double rooms (on request). If you want a single room, you will have to pay a supplement 545€.
Does Triskelion Expeditions handle the flights?
Yes, although we don’t include the cost of flights in the trip, we can also take care of them if you wish. All you have to do is tell us when you book. We send you a quote with the price of the flights at the time and then you decide whether to buy with Triskelion, on your own or with another agency.
Are arrival and departure transfers included?
That’s right, transfers are included in the price of the trip. There is one flight on the trip that is recommended for the group to arrive at the same time, so transfers are available according to the arrival time of this flight. Where do I meet the leader?
The meeting with the leader takes place at the destination airport.
If I enrol alone, do I have to pay an individual supplement?
It is not compulsory, as we will group together those who sign up for a double room with a twin bed (where possible), by sex and order of registration, travellers who sign up for the trip alone. If the number of travellers is odd, the participant who is left alone will have to pay the respective single supplement. If you want to stay in a single room, then you will have to pay the single supplement.
What documentation do I need to make this journey?
For this trip you will need to carry a passport valid for at least six months after the date of departure from the country. An entry visa is required for Tanzania, which is not included in the price of the trip and can be obtained on arrival or online at the following link https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/ (When applying for a visa online, it must be applied for no later than 3 weeks before the trip).
Can I arrive before and leave after the group?
Yes, if you want to arrive in Arusha before the group and leave after the end of the group trip, you can. In that case, if you wish, we can book the accommodation for you, or you can choose to buy it without Triskelion Expeditions.
How are meals not included?
Meals that are not included can be taken as a group, in places recommended by the leader or local guides, or you can prefer to eat somewhere else that suits you better, with other people or on your own.
