Itinerary
Day 1
Arriving to Madeira Island
We will arrive on Madeira Island and someone will be waiting for us to take us to our hotel. We'll use this day to get to know each other better and also to take a stroll around the city of Funchal.
Day 2
Tour of the west of the island
It will be a day of sightseeing and beautiful scenery! After breakfast, we'll set off on a tour of Cape Girão, the seventh highest cape in Europe. Here, you'll catch a glimpse of the sea in contrast to the island. We'll continue on to Paúl da Serra and the natural pools of Porto Moniz, where we'll have lunch. Seixal will be our next stop, where we can stroll along the black-coloured sand that contrasts uniquely with the waters of the sea. We will also pass through Encumeada, São Vicente and Câmara de Lobos. We'll end our day in Funchal where we'll have dinner as a group.
Day 3
Funchal
This day will be dedicated to the capital. We will have a guided tour of Funchal for around 4 hours, where we will take a gastronomic tour and we can use the rest of the time to walk freely around the city or do any specific activity we want (in a group or individually).
Day 4
Levadas
Today will be dedicated to levadas (various levels of difficulty). Half the day we'll be hiking and the other half we'll be touring the area, but this time in a jeep. It will be a different day, with lots of contact with nature and incredible places.
Day 5
East of the island
After breakfast, we leave for another day of sightseeing. We'll start at Pico do Arieiro, the highest point on Madeira Island at 1818 metres above sea level. You'll be able to see it from Funchal, but being at this point will be an unforgettable experience because it's so beautiful. We continue on to Ribeiro Frio, Balcões and lunch in Santana, where we can see the typical triangular houses of Madeira Island. After lunch, we'll continue our visit to Ponta do Rosto and before returning to Funchal, we'll also visit Cristo Rei.
Day 6
North of the Island
We leave Funchal in the direction of São Vicente. The destination will be Ponta Delgada, a place of fishermen and where the landscape will not be indifferent either. We'll also visit Cabanas de São Jorge, Faial, Porto da Cruz and the Miradouro do Machico - all places with memorable landscapes. We'll return to Funchal for our farewell dinner!
Day 7
Returning home
This is the last day. We will have a private transfer from the hotel to the airport. Time to reflect on the trip and everything we've experienced over the last few days. When is your next trip?

Does Triskelion Expeditions handle the flights?
Yes, although we don’t include the cost of flights in the trip, we can also take care of them if you wish. All you have to do is tell us when you book.
We send you a quote with the price of the flights at the time and then you decide whether to buy with Triskelion, on your own or with another agency.
Are arrival and departure transfers included?
That’s right, transfers are included in the price of the trip.
There is one flight on the trip that is recommended for the group to arrive at the same time, so transfers are available according to the arrival time of this flight. If you opt for flights with a different arrival time, these are no longer included (in which case there is no refund of the transfer fee).
Where do I meet the leader?
The meeting with the leader takes place at the destination airport.
If I enrol alone, do I have to pay an individual supplement?
It is not compulsory, as we will group together those who sign up for a double room with a twin bed (where possible), by sex and order of registration, travellers who sign up for the trip alone. If the number of travellers is odd, the participant who is left alone will have to pay the respective single supplement.
If you want to stay in a single room, then you will have to pay the single supplement.
What documentation do I need to make this journey?
For this trip you will need to take your identity card or resident card or passport if you are a non-EU resident.
Can I arrive before and leave after the group?
Yes, if you want to arrive in Funchal before the group and leave after the end of the group trip, you can.
In that case, if you wish, we can book the accommodation for you, or you can choose to buy it without Triskelion Expeditions.
How are meals not included?
Meals that are not included can be taken as a group, in places recommended by the leader or local guides, or you can prefer to eat somewhere else that suits you better, with other people or on your own.
How can I pay for this trip?
A minimum payment of 35 per cent of the cost of the trip is required to confirm the booking.
The remaining amount must be paid at least 45 days before the start date of the trip.
The remaining value of the trip can be paid in instalments up to 45 days before the beginning of the trip.
There is no refund of the amount paid at the time of booking, after confirmation of the trip.
Can I cancel the trip?
You can cancel your trip up until the day we confirm it by email.
If you want to cancel the trip after it has been confirmed, you will incur costs that we have already paid for services to be used on the trip.
